Introduction

This policy outlines our commitment to promoting inclusivity and addressing unacceptable behaviour, ensuring that Tech-Takeback remains a safe, welcoming, and supportive organisation for all.

Scope
This policy applies to all employees, volunteers, contractors, partners, and any individual engaging with Tech-Takeback, whether on-site or remotely.

Our Commitments

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

  1. Promoting Equality

    • Treat all individuals fairly, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic background, or any other protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.

    • Ensure equal access to opportunities, resources, and support within the organisation.

  2. Celebrating Diversity

    • Actively encourage representation and participation from underrepresented groups in all areas of our operations.

  3. Inclusion and Accessibility

    • Create an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and empowered to contribute.

  4. Education and Awareness

    • Provide regular training to employees and volunteers to foster understanding and respect for diversity.

Anti-Bullying and Harassment

  1. Zero Tolerance for Bullying and Harassment

    • Maintain a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, harassment, victimisation, or any form of abusive behaviour, whether verbal, physical, or digital.

    • Take immediate and appropriate action against any instances of such behaviour.

  2. Defining Unacceptable Behaviour

    • Bullying includes repeated, unreasonable actions that intimidate, degrade, or humiliate.

    • Harassment includes unwanted conduct that violates an individual’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.

  3. Reporting and Resolution

    • Provide a clear, confidential process for reporting concerns about bullying, harassment, or discrimination.

    • Ensure all complaints are taken seriously, investigated promptly, and resolved fairly.

    • Protect individuals who report concerns from retaliation or further harm.

  4. Support for All Parties

    • Offer support and guidance to individuals affected by bullying or harassment.

    • Provide mediation or counselling where appropriate to resolve conflicts and rebuild relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Management: Lead by example in promoting EDI, addressing unacceptable behaviour, and ensuring the policy’s implementation.

  • Employees and Volunteers: Treat others with respect, uphold the principles of this policy, and report any concerns.

  • Partners and Stakeholders: Abide by Tech-Takeback’s standards and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment.

Implementation and Monitoring

  • Embed EDI principles into all policies, practices, and activities.

  • Monitor progress through regular assessments of diversity and inclusion in the organisation.

  • Review and update this policy annually to ensure it reflects evolving best practices and legislative requirements.

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its relevance and effectiveness in fostering equality, diversity, and inclusion and preventing bullying or harassment.
